Golden Anniversary or, The Missing Grate

My parents have both moved on now. My dad went first in his early 80’s and missed their 60th wedding anniversary by eight days. Mother lasted nearly ten years longer. But they were both hale and hardy for their 50th anniversary. They had eloped the first time and had a formal wedding with their three children celebrating with them. We had planed a long time to have a beautiful party, and worked hard to make pastries, finger sandwiches, and everything else for a good day for all. We had to carry in everything we had prepared the morning of the event. I was carrying in the fixings for the punch and came in the nearest door which was at the top of three steps and a small landing. In the landing there was a drain to get rid of rainwater that seeped in. The drain was about six inches in diameter just enough to catch your foot in and fall to a hard landing on the concrete floor. I found that hole with my foot while carrying a case of ginger-ale down to the kitchen to make the punch. We had a lot of unloading to do and setting things up. As the only daughter I was more or less organizing the party and after the fall I was in pain from either a minor break or a major sprain. The timing could not have been worse; there was so much to get done. I was hobbling across the hall, someone had taken the sodas off my hands by that time. I was praying, something to the effect that this was our parents day and it had been planed so long. I have to be able to get around today; it makes no difference about tomorrow. Please don’t let me spoil their day. God answered that prayer. The pain went away. I went through all the shades of purple as if it was still as bad as ay first but I never had to feel it after about ten minutes. That healing was God’s grace. Philippians 4: 6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

The Lump That Disappeared

This morning I was watching TBN while I was fixing breakfast and as usual there was a prayer time at the end. One of the people they prayed for had a cancerous tumor. That reminded me of a time me life miraculously changed by the Lord.

Some years ago I was accidentally discovered I had a lump in my breast. My mother was still alive then and I went to her to have her hopefully not find anything. It was false hope. After my mother felt what I felt she insisted we go right to the family doctor and get it examined. The good doctor, checked things out and set up a mammogram for me. I had to take along a doctor’s order with a sketch of where to look. The next morning I had the mammogram and they could not find anything. Even with the doctor’s map to where to look.

I believe the lump was there I not only felt it but had two witnesses. It was real and God made it go away. I believe in all of God’s promises of health and prosperity. I have seen God’s mighty work over and over again.

Ps 103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul;

And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,

And forget not all His benefits:

3 Who forgives all your iniquities,

Who heals all your diseases,

4 Who redeems your life from destruction,

Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

(New King James Verson)

This is among the healing scriptures and starts with praise. In today’s world it is often hard to thank God when you have issues on your mind like sickness or finances or perhaps family members. We often do not focus like those who wrote the Bible did. I  need to stay aware 1) God is the same today as yesterday. 2) In my own life I have repeatedly seen the Lord do great things. 3) He deserves all praise. In this memory He removed a lump with no surgery I will be sharing other memories of when he made sicknesses and injuries disappear. I hope to be able to end with a total healing of MS.
